THE AMERICAN FOOD MOVEMENT

The American Food Movement is a celebration of all things cuisine in the United States of America, covering a span in history of nearly two and one half centuries.

It is most reflective of the diversity of our culture, yet embracing at the same time the values we hold so dear…honest, forthright, creative and altruistic can all be stated of American cuisine.

As colonization took place in the late 18th century, the British and other Europeans and immigrants brought their recipes across the ocean but learned to adapt to what they found here in this bountiful land. Out of necessity, for much of its existence, this country has been agriculturally based.

From the beginning, settlers had to grow most of what they ate and forage for the rest. The resulting recipes handed down so carefully from one generation to the next are fairly simple in preparation for the most part but marvelously glorious in taste, texture and visual appeal.

It is with great pride, therefore, that we present an opportunity here to define what truly makes up American cuisine and to preserve for future generations the best of our vintage recipes.

There is a certain art to cooking American heritage recipes, though simple they may be. When done right, they are truly memorable and deserve recognition, respect and preservation.
